Our story…
Of Melidana Cattery – A Passion That Began with a Dream
It all began in 2010, when I dreamed of having a kitten. That simple wish soon grew into something much bigger – Of Melidana cattery was born. Breeding became a shared passion for my mother and me, with animal welfare, love, and informed, responsible breeding always at its heart.
In 2015, our good friend Anu Ehasalu joined our team, specialising in Maine Coons.
Since then, both my mother, Diana, and Anu have taken their own paths. Diana established Blue L’Amour Cattery, where she breeds Mekong Bobtails and Neva Masquerades, handing over her role at Of Melidana to me.
Today, Of Melidana focuses on Scottish Straight cats. In 2021, we made a conscious decision to stop breeding Scottish Folds and concentrate on healthier, more sustainable breeding practices. In August 2026, we attended the WCF General Assembly, where we advocated for the recognition of the Scottish Straight as a separate breed. Our efforts were successful: following a vote at the General Assembly, the Scottish Straight was recognised as a breed in its own right, separate from the Scottish Fold, in 2026.
Alongside breeding, I work as a veterinary assistant and am the founder and president of the cat association Fennica Cattus. For me, working with animals is more than a profession – it is a way of life that brings together knowledge, compassion, and a sense of responsibility for the future of the cats in our care and the generations to come.

Of Melidana is an experienced cattery dedicated to breeding healthy, well-socialised pedigree cats of outstanding quality. We do not breed cats for profit – breeding is our way of life, our passion, and a hobby we pursue with a professional approach.
We love our cats and give them fulfilling lives as members of our family. Their emotional wellbeing is just as important to us as their physical health. We invest time and care in socialising our kittens and choosing the best possible homes for them.
Every first-time pedigree cat owner receives a detailed guide explaining how to help their cat settle comfortably into its new home. It includes a list of the products we use, along with plenty of practical advice on care.
